A Life In Photography

Kathleen Holloway is a multi-genre photographer whose images range from street photography, food and travel, photo encaustics, hand tinted, and still life. She has studied at The International Center of Photography and Penumbra Foundation, both in New York City, as well as The Art Institute of Seattle in Washington state.

After graduating from the photography program at The Art Institute, Kathleen moved back East, where she grew up, to pursue a career as a photo editor in publishing and the entertainment industry.

With an over 20 year career of hiring photographers, producing photo shoots and as a retoucher, Kathleen is finally pursuing her dream of showing her own work with recent solo exhibitions at Gallery 178 in Washington Heights and The Dyckman Farmhouse Museum here in Inwood. Most recently, Kathleen was invited to participate in a three day Instagram Takeover for the Womens’ Photo Alliance NYC where she presented multiple themes in her work and the stories behind making them. This work can be found @wpanyc.

"I’ve always had a love for art and  photography, since my father taught me the basics when I was a child. His experience and passion as a commercial artist encouraged me as I took my first steps to becoming a photographer.

Over the last few years I have started experimenting with panoramic 35mm and medium format film photography and exploring traditional printing techniques like cyanotype and platinum/palladium.  I’m continually interested in learning new ways to capture the world around us."
